I finally broke down and had to see what Fox’s show Glee is about. I tried to ignore it but have been bombarded with advertisements. I looked at the Fox website to read what it was about. I found out “GLEE, is a one-hour musical comedy that follows an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to transform the school’s Glee Club and inspire a group of ragtag performers to make it to the biggest competition of them all: Nationals.”
I said to myself “self, that sounds like a horrible premise for a preschool skit.” I continued my research. I saw Doogie Howser was making an appearance on the show which only furthered my opinion that it sounded like, at best, a horrible waste of time.
The final step of my research was to sit down and watch the show. I figured Fox positioned this show in the same time slot as 24. Maybe it too will turn me into a dedicated fan. 24 seconds in I was watching a mall full of people dance around just praying Jack Bauer was going to pop out from behind a clothing rack and shoot everyone involved. I longed for a good disemboweling.
How is it both of these shows reach audiences at the same hour? Who exactly watches this garbage? I can not begin to picture the target audience of GLEE and that advertisers would want to reach these people.
